The paper takes time as the order to research the general situation of major trade products from Han dynasty to the Republic of China to discuss its characteristic of change and analyze its impact on Hainan's economic and social development in various periods.Hainan's exports were dominated by its native products,many of which were from the Li area,mainly were spices,coconut,betel nut,livestock,timber and so on.The imports to Hainan were means of production and daily necessities which were unable to produced locally but were closely related to the survival of the people.From Han to Tang dynasty,the main exports of Hainan were precious goods,and based on the spices,gold and silver.Mainly exports were rice and iron.In Song and Yuan dynasties,a large number of common products are taken as the export commodities,and the exports were similar to before.Hainan entered into a new stage of trade development,commodity structure was changed,and Hainan has gained closer trade ties to the mainland China and overseas countries.During Ming and Qing dynasties,Hainan exported a large number of commercial crops,and started export animal products,and import large quantities of grain.Population growth and planted a large number of industrial crops,expand the contradiction between people and the land,and a large number of Chinese workers go abroad to make a living.In modern times,plenty of Western goods have entered into Hainan,Hainan's main exports were timber,animal products and sucrose.Imports were hit the local trade products market in Hainan,which has a significant impact on the economic and social development of Hainan.Hainan has variety of trade forms,according to the flow of goods were mainly divided into three categories: intra-island trade;trade with mainland;trade with foreign countries.Hainan's traded goods are of local characteristics,Hainan is obliged to present tribute to central.In late period of republic of China,Japan's plunder of Hainan is the main form of output of Hainan's products which we can't ignore.Looking at Hainan's trade,although the central government has exploited Hainan people and Japan's plunder of Hainan's resources,overall,trade has promoted the prosperity and development of Hainan's economy,society and culture.
