As a special writing phenomenon,compound inscriptions are the unity of universality and particularity.As early as it appeared in oracle bone inscriptions,it has subjective special-oriented meanings,but restricted by the objective conditions of writing.Compared with the later occurred and developed writings of ancient Chinese characters,the compound inscriptions of bones or tortoise shells have their unique style of the times,which is mainly reflected in the content and structure of the writing.Research on compound inscriptions,which helps to analyze some unknow characters and discuss the controversial words,also support and develop comprehensive and profound understanding about the oracle inscriptions and Shang culture.Based on previous research,this thesis,comprehensively analyzes the compound inscrptions of oracle bone inscrptions,strive for exploring on judgment,classification and explanation of compound inscriptions.In this thesis,the research on the compound inscrptions of bones or tortoise shells is based on the collection of Jia Gu Wen He Ji.First of all,Tables and forms will be used to coordinate all of the 275 compound inscriptions of bones or tortoise shells based on the provided clear definition and judgment standard of compound inscriptions in this thesis.Secondly,the divisions of compound inscriptions are enriched and detailed according to two aspects which are form and theme by combining relevant oracle inscriptions.Finally,in the part of related issues of oracle inscriptions,some previous unnoticed or still having been discussed phenomenon have been selected as examples.This paper tries to look forward to new discoveries with the aid of making full use of previous analyses.Additionally,a list of compound inscriptions of bones or tortoise shells,and a brief explanation of this list are offered in appendix.
