Translation Of Deontic Modality In Est Text On The Perspective Of Interpersonal Meaning

This paper,conducting a case study on the Chinese translation of CVN Flight Hangar Deck NATOPS Manual,analyzes the English-Chinese translation of deontic modality in EST text on the perspective of interpersonal meaning.The practice indicates that both specific modal words and metaphor of modality would be translated into modal words to show its interpersonal meaning.Besides,the author suggests three translation strategies,including definite instruction,reduction of responsibility and the diffusion of modality.
