The Research On The Relationship Among Personality,The Defence Mechanismand Self-consistency And Congruence Of College Student

Defense mechanism has always been an important subject in clinical psychology research.It is thought to be the psychological process for dealing with unpleasant emotionsof individuals.For college students,they are in the most flexible stage of physical and mental development when they will encounter many new experiences.However,new experiences often have two sides,which do not only let people grow but also bring unhappiness.At this time,it takes for granted that individuals start the defense facing unhappiness.Of course,constructive defense has positive significancewhile primitive and neurotic defense will leave hidden danger to psychological development of the individuals in the future.This research adopts the short versions of the Big Five Personality Questionnaire,Self Consistency and CongruenceScale,and the short version of theDefensive StyleQuestionnaire to do the general observation and analysis for 640 college students' personality traits,self consistency and congruence and the level of defense mechanism.It reached the following conclusions:(1)The three variables such as personality traits,self consistency and congruence and defense mechanism of college students have significant differences in demographic variables.(2)There are significant correlations between most of the five factors of personality traits,the three factors of self consistency and congruence and the three factors of defense mechanism of college students.(3)The personality trait and self consistency and congruenceof college students have predictive effects on defense mechanism.The results of research show thatfor the neurotic,self consistency and congruence is its mediator with defense mechanism and for openness,only the self-flexibility of self consistency and congruenceis its mediator with defense mechanism.
