With the development of global economic globalization,the economies and languages of all countries are interpenetrated.Due to the widest range of applications of English,the importance of English is growing more and more obvious.Our education syllabus sets different tasks for English learning at different stages.English reading in primary school plays an important role in learning English well.Through the study and practice of primary English reading,students can not only enrich their knowledge of English,but also help to understand Western culture.Students' ability to learn independently and their learning efficiency can be improved at the same time.One of the influential studies about input is Krashen's Input Hypothesis.It emphasized the importance of comprehensible input in foreign language learning.Although the hypothesis has received a lot of attacks,it still has some values for foreign language teaching.Beginning with Krashen's theory of language,the first part of the thesis mainly studies the relevant theories,guides the study of English with theory,and then analyzes the reading of the upper grades of primary school.The aim of the article is to improve the English reading ability of the upper-primary students.The paper is based on the current situation of reading teaching.It mainly focuses on how to use Krashen's language input theory to cultivate the students' reading strategies and to improve the students' reading abilities.It takes the teacher's own students and own classes as the research subject,so as to analyze the enlightment of Krashen's language input theory to reading teaching.The aims of the research are as the following:(1)To improve the students' reading abilities;(2)To stimulate the students' reading interests;(3)To cultivate the students' reading habits.To have a better understanding of the students and the reading method,the author mainly uses the following tools to carry on with his research:an interview,a questionnaire and several tests to know the current situation of English reading teaching,how the students read in and after class,how the teachers do and what the teachers have done through reading teaching.Furthermore,to have a further understanding of the students' reading mental activity,the teacher invites several students to answer some semi-open questions.The result shows the current input situations in foreign language learning.At the end of this article,it gives several suggestions to English reading teaching:on what to teach,the article suggests choosing the materials that include authentic English data,and cover various kinds of articles.In addition,the content of the article should not only fit the students' English level but also be interesting.During the process of teaching,both linguistic and schematic knowledge should be taught.On how to teach,the article points out that the reading input should be adequate both in quantity and quality.In the teaching process,we teachers could combine input and output together to improve the effect of reading teaching.
