The rise and fall of "public domain" is the main thread of the whole work of Hannah Arendt, whose historical task is to explain the public nature of political phenomena from philosophy. In contrast to the "interests" and "rights" studies of the modern western mainstream politics, through the memory of the ancient Greek city-states system,Arendt reestablished the autonomy and nobility of politics in the sense of human existence. In her opinion, politics was a condition of survival, and it was the freedom of citizens to display themselves,to express their opinions in the public domain,to discuss public issues. The unique political theory was built on the idea of Arendt's "public domain".In Arendt, politics was a kind of practice activity of intrinsic purpose,a condition of the person's behavior, also a symbol of the person's behavior. However,After witnessing the collapse of the "democratic representative system" of the Weimar government and the rule of Nazi totalitarianism, the destruction of the public sphere caused by totalitarianism and the isolation of people made Arendt suspicious of the western liberal democracy with the core values of liberalism. She began to attack totalitarianism, and explored how totalitarianism was produced from the infinite expansion of capitalism and the mass of rootlessness and loneliness. At the same time, she also called for an attempt to confront the danger,to achieve republican politics, and to use the "action" to do what the public wants to do,to achieve a full restoration of the public domain. The first chapter of this paper takes the connotation of Arendt's "public domain" as the core research object, and brings out the concepts and attributes of the public domain, emphasizing that the public domain is the most expansive stage of human political life. The second chapter mainly discusses how to use the public's totalitarianism--racial discrimination and hatred, lead to the decline of public sphere and broken. The third chapter focuses on Arendt's concept of "action",emphasizes the freedom and democracy of thinking and encourages citizens to participate in public life, which is the basic path of public domain revival. In the last chapter,in the view of Arendt's theory of Marxism and power, the author elaborates on the basic connotation of Marxist philosophy and the internal relation between Marxism and the theory of public sphere, thus refuting Arendt's critique of Marx's political views and trying to eliminate Arendt's misunderstanding of Marxist philosophy. To highlight the contemporary political society, both Marx and Arendt are needed.
