Laosicheng lantern drama,which mainly developed in and around Laosicheng,Yongshun County,is a kind of folk and local drama in western Hunan Province.On one hand,it is a kind of traditional cultural art with group,social and regional characteristics,and on the other hand,it is a kind of people's group creation as well as performance since it is inherited and developed in and outside Laosicheng area as cultural integration.Therefore,a corresponding space-time structure and cultural relation is formed between the village community and lantern drama culture of Laosicheng.In this thesis,Laosicheng lantern drama and this village community are taken as the objects of study to explore the cultural space variation and its causes of lantern drama through a multi-disciplinary perspective,which taking the concept of cultural space as an access point,applying fieldwork research methods and its results in the analysis phase,taking intangible cultural heritage conservation as the principal line,and by the same time having a comprehensive view in literature,aesthetics,art,anthropology,folklore,etc.This whole thesis consists of four parts: the first chapter is an overview about traditional lantern drama and Laosicheng lantern drama;the second chapter discusses the various space composition of lantern drama through the analysis of inheritance spatial dimension of Laosicheng lantern drama.By carding the existing environment and the status quo of inheritance and development of lantern drama,a detailed analysis is made about its cultural space evolution;the third chapter is pivotal.It specifically elaborates the fission and reconstruction of lantern drama space and what causes its inheritance and reconstruction.In this part,based on documents and field research materials,the author analyzes the spatial trends of lantern drama under new situation from the formation,the performance form of Laosicheng lantern drama as well as its relation with recent tourism development.In the last chapter,the author tries to make objective forecast and analysis to provide some thinking and countermeasure in the protection of lantern drama as a kind of intangible heritage.That is to say the author tries to explore the feasible strategies for the modernization development of traditional lantern drama based on the previous three chapters.The purpose of writing this thesis is far more than to successfully graduate,but to provide more practical and theoretical reference guidance for the inheritance and protection of Laosicheng lantern drama.Today under the current intangible culture protection context,modern culture is prevailing and foreign culture is ingressive,while the cultural space of a large amount of Chinese traditional cultural art is being severely disrupted and squeezed,or even lost.By the combined efforts of the artisans from local folk troupes,Laosicheng lantern drama is kept until now,and this in all is a great contribution to the component of Laosicheng cultural and the integral conservation of Laosicheng Site.The author hopes that by reading this thesis,more attentions can bepaid to Laosicheng lantern drama,and more audiences will like this drama,so that in return this will promote the integrated conservation of Laosicheng culture and the future development of lantern drama,Audiences hopes with the help of initial research to reviving this almost lost folk playlet to become a unique brand of Laosicheng culture.
