The Jin Merchants' Family Instructions Ethic Thoughts And Its Contemporary Enlightenment

Jin merchants obtained brilliant achievement mainly due to their ethical thought.They taught their descendants strictly about the traditional ethical through family instructions and form a unique ethical thought.Based on large number of historical document,this paper takes the Jin merchant family instruction as the point through the in-deep exploration of ethical thought,strives to combine the ethical thought and the current society so as to pursue the enlightenment for the society.This paper analyzes the family instructions ethical thought and its contemporary enlightenment from three chapters.Chapter one is about the the historical and cultural background of Jin merchants' family instructions ethical thought.The first section introduces the Jin merchants' family instructions ethical thought's external conditions.Due to the poor condition of land,the Shanxi people have to contend with their own wisdom and strength,thus forming the moral quality of frugality and modesty.The Chinese civilization of three Jin dynasty is the cultural source of the ethical thought of Jin merchants.The tradition of advocating Confucianism and emphasis on education in Dynasties of Ming and qing provided the ideological basis for the ethical thought of Jin merchant family instructions.The second section introduces the Jin merchants' internal demand for family instructions etthical thought.Some of Jin merchants studied Confucianism in the early years,with a little bit of Confucianism.The Jin merchant family is large and prosperous,and it needs to be restrained in the way of family training in the management of the family.In the years of commercial operation,Jin merchants realized the necessity of moral restraint in economic activities,and in the family training,they also increased the ethical standards to be observed in business.The second chapter analyzes the main contents of the ethics thought of Jin merchant family instruction.Shanxi people have been focusing on family wind since ancient times,is the pioneer of Chinese family wind construction.This chapter expatiates on the ethical thoughts of the Jin merchants from thethree aspects of the foundation,the family and the people.In the first section,we introduced the moral principles of "benevolence,righteousness,propriety,wisdom and faith" in Confucian culture.The second section introduces the Jin businessmen in the aspect of the family is industrious and thrifty,and the family wind is the most important.The third section introduces the success of the Jin merchants,not forgetting to help township,and the development of the motherland as their own,in the crisis of the motherland to stand up to the patriotic feelings of the people.The third chapter discusses the contemporary enlightenment of the ethics thought of Jin merchant family.The first section analyzes the value guidance for the improvement of personal quality.The second section analyzes the valuable thinking for the construction of family wind culture.The third section analyzes the enlightening significance of carrying forward the patriotic spirit nowadays.
