The proposal and implementation of "Belt and Road" initiative by the Chinese government has provided numerous opportunities for foreigners to study in China and to experience Chinese culture.Previous studies have drawn different conclusions on needs targeting different objects and learning purposes.Indonesia is a multi-ethnic country where Indonesian Chinese are actively learning Chinese.At present,many Indonesian Chinese choose to go directly to the Chinese environment to learn the language.Therefore,as an Indonesian Chinese student,I believe it is necessary to further understand the needs of Indonesian Chinese who study Chinese here in Guangzhou.Needs analysis has been the focus of second language teaching since the 1970 s.Need is the fundamental driving force for language learning,and it helps students go through the learning process.On the basis of second language teaching literature,this paper uses questionnaire and personal interview as survey method to analyze the needs of Indonesian Chinese students who study in Guangzhou.This thesis is divided into five chapters: Chapter I is the Introduction,which includes background,purpose,literature review,significance and methodology of the research.Chapter II is the design of research methods,which includes objects,methods,survey tools,data collection.Chapter III is the questionnaire and analysis,which includes basic situation of overseas Chinese students,needs analysis of goal and desire,needs analysis of learning environment,and needs analysis of learning contents.Chapter IV is the personal interview and analysis,which includes interview design,interview object,interview results and analysis.In this study,110 Indonesian Chinese students from Guangdong University of Foreign Studies,South China Normal University and College of Chinese Language and Culture of Jinan University were selected as the survey object,and their needs to acquire Chinese as second language were discussed.Combining the theory of Needs Analysis and the author's teaching practices,this research gives suggestions on teaching Chinese to Indonesian Chinese students from two aspects,namely school and teacher.
