Reading is one of the aims of language learning,Reading materials is an important part of English textbooks.The selection and design ofreading materials in the textbook directly influences students’ reading efficiency.Therefore,selecting and designing reading materials is essential for improving reading skills and learning.English.At present,the English Curriculum for Basic Education(Compulsory Education)English Curriculum Standard(2011 Edition)(hereinafter referred to as the new curricula)is implemented in the basic education English curriculum,which sets clear requirements for the compilation and use of textbooks.The content,aim and requirements of the textbook should have full realization of the requirements of the standard,the five dimensions of the overall goal of the English curriculum,including: language skills,language knowledge,emotional attitude,learning strategies,cultural awareness of the five aspects of each other,such as mutual penetration and mutual support.The New Curriculum also sets requirements for fifth-level English reading skills in junior high schools.To achieve this goal,appropriate reading materials and teachers are crucial to the use of reading materials.Good reading materials not only allow students to learn vocabulary,grammar,etc.,but also to improve a number of language skills such as English listening,speaking,reading and writing,and more through the exchange of text to experience the emotion,expand the language knowledge,understand the culture of English speaking country,improve your interest in learning English.As one of the most widely-used textbooks in ShanDong Province,the textbooks of the ShanDong Education Press are published in two versions in 2004 and 2012.As a teacher,How about the compilation of reading materials of new and old textbooks? Does the new one reflect the concept of the new curriculum? What are the characteristics of the two versions of textbooks? Is there any shortage? How do we correct it? According to such a research question,this dissertation takes the junior and middle school textbooks of old and new SEP Editions of English Textbook for Junior High Schools and the reading materials of the sixth grade to the ninth grade as the research object and intends to study from the following aspects:First of all,it defines the related concepts of textbook and textbook analysis,analyzes the function of textbook,selects the evaluation criteria of textbook,features of reading material as the research scope,constructs the research framework according to the related textbook analysis theory,then combines the concrete text Analyze and analyze whether the reading materials in the two textbooks have any special characteristics in terms of topics,genres,practice activities and reading strategies,the relationship with other language skills,quantity,length and authenticity,The new curriculum proposed by the learning goals,especially the standard requirements of the reading skills of students.Through analyzing the whole textual data,the author draws the conclusion about the teaching materials of the old and the new textbooks,and finally analyzes the shortcomings of the textbooks of the textbooks and gives the corresponding suggestions.
