Translation for business promotion(hereafter,TBP)has always been a need for those enterprises or companies which wish,in alien countries,to make investment,promote sale of products,and improve company's image,etc.And this may become even truer in the context when the Chinese government is carrying out the Belt & Road Initiative.Within such context,this report offers description,analysis and strategies in regard to translation for business promotion of HAD Co.,Ltd.In this translation project,the Chinese texts of two videos and a pictorial brochure,i.e.,“HAD Advertisement”,“The Commentary of Image Film ‘HAD Dream'”,and “HAD Introduction”,are required to translate into English,which aims to make HAD known to potential customers abroad.In order to offer a qualified service to her customers,the project translator,(1)in the pre-translation process,made great efforts to collect information about the purpose of the company,cooperated closely with the film making company(who also serves HAD);(2)gave careful analysis of the customers that this translation will serve and of the separate demands of the translation;and(3)proposed translation strategies based on theories for translation which include faithful reception,proper “space-saving” and flexible translation in view of Skopostheorie by Hans J.Vermeer and Receptional Theories by Hans Robert Jauss and Wolfgan Iser,following textual analysis in linguistics according to Text Type Theory proposed by Newmark.In the translation process,the translator rendered the Chinese texts into English based on results of the analysis above:(1)given their cultural,agricultural,business elements,etc.,these texts are emphatically informative,and also inherently vocative,with a bit of expressive type.Hence,these characteristics of texts are as fully as possible considered,and dealt with differently in accordance with their distinctions.(2)Since there are two main texts with different forms,i.e.,subtitling text and brochure with pictures,distinctive approaches are employed to solve problems that could be barriers to the understanding of receptors abroad or to meet the demands from the initiators.(3)Strategies concerning transplanting and transporting business cultural concepts into English are also adopted with an attempt to make the receptors abroad recognize how different the Chinese enterprises' philosophy is from their alien counterparts.In the post translation process,quality control is carried out through expert(supervisor-ship)review and customer review.
