Most Chinese students feel difficult in English writing learning,so how to improve the English writing has become the focus of teachers and students.In recent years,with the application of computer technology and retrieval software of corpus in the English teaching,corpus approach not only has been widely used in language study,but also opened up a new path for the English writing teaching.According to the requirements of English Curriculum Standards in the Phase of Compulsory Education(2011),this study firstly collected and processed 24 writing topics in junior middle school,and built a small writing corpus.It includes students' writing corpus(SWC)and standard model corpus(SMC),which are based on students' real writing assignments and standard model.In order to know information of English writing about the junior middle school students,the writer use respectively corpus statistical analysis tool Range,Antconc,BFSU Collocator1.0 to search and analyze self-built corpus from four aspects such as the accuracy of words,the usage of vocabulary,collocational strength of phrases and the diversity of syntactic structure.By contrasting and analyzing corpus data(occurring frequency of search word in context),the writer find that the students have some certain gaps in terms of the accuracy,application,collocation of words and the expressions of the syntactic structure,such as lack of vocabulary,the usage of simple and inaccurate words,improper collocation of phases,simple sentence patterns,colloquial expression and so on.Finally,this paper summarizes the existing problems of students' composition writing based on the statistical analysis of the above four aspects,and then puts forward relevant teaching suggestions for English writing teaching of junior middle school.The pertinence of this corpus-based English writing teaching and practice is strong and is not limited by time and space.It not only can improve the occurring frequency of linguistic knowledge in context to help students deepen the impression,but also can make up for the lack of teaching materials,enrich the students' learning resources,cultivate students' self-correcting awareness and English writing ability,so as to promote the effective teaching of English writing.
