Since Mencius proposed the concept of the well-field system and memories of its related systems,it has been regarded as the most ideal land system in ancient China.And the discussion on the minefield system in successive dynasties is also endless.In the Song Dynasty the implement of the land system of "non-establishment of land system" and "non-suppression of mergers and acquisitions" further intensified the development of the land privatization.In the face of the social reality of the prevalence of land annexation and the serious unevenness of the rich and the poor,the philosophers went back to the ancient well-field system to find solutions to the land issue.This article takes Zhang Zai,Cheng Yi,Cheng Hao and Zhu Xi,as the main research objects,and discusses the Neo-Confucianism tried to change the situation of ?the rich terraced their lands while the poor had no land to live? through the criticism of the land policy at the time,the praise and advocacy of the well-field system to curb the land merger.The first chapter summarizes the concept of the well-field system,introduces the beginning,development and decline of the field system,and discusses the land system and the living conditions of the peasants in the Song Dynasty.It also sorts out the social background in which the Neo-Confucianism proposed to restore the well-field system.The second chapter focuses on the four philosophers' critique of the land-possession system and their different opinions.Chapter Three explores the attitude of the Confucian scholars in Ming and Qing Dynasties towards the well-field system and their evaluation of the "well-field" remarks proposed by the Confucian scholars in the Song Dynasty.
