Reading is one of the most important parts in English teaching in senior high school.In addition,in all kinds of English tests in China,especially in the National Matriculation English Test,reading is not only an essential,but also a large proportion of the part.Therefore,it is more and more important to cultivate students' reading ability.However,the main form of English reading teaching is traditional.The focus is still on the vocabulary,grammar,as well as the translation of texts.With the gradual development of teaching,all sorts of drawbacks of the traditional reading teaching mode have been exposed.Under this kind of background,cooperative learning as a new teaching mode has been widely used in teaching.Cooperative learning is a kind of teaching activity based on group learning as the basic form,with group performance as the evaluation criteria,which aims to mobilize the initiative of each student's learning and promote students to make progress.Cooperative learning has been applied to English reading teaching in senior high school,but the specific implementation strategy of it in high school English reading teaching is fewer,and there are some problems in the specific operation.Based on the theory of cooperative learning in previous studies,by the comparison of students' pre-test and post-test,questionnaires,and three interviews,this paper tries to apply cooperative learning in English reading class,that is,whether cooperative learning can improve the students' reading interest and ability and try to find some applicable strategies for the cooperative learning in the high school English reading class through the two classes with different teaching modes,the control class uses the traditional teaching mode,the experimental class uses the cooperative teaching mode,and analyze the experimental results at the end of the semester.And we should let the students take cooperative learning in and out of class for the completion of the common tasks.During improving the students' reading ability,try to cultivate students' sense of cooperation.The present empirical study lasts four months.There are five chapters in this paper.The first chapter mainly introduced the research background,the goal and the significance.The second chapter is literature review,which mainly summarizes the research of cooperative learning,high school English reading teaching and the application of cooperative learning in English reading teaching in senior high school.The third chapter is the theoretical basis of this paper.The fourth chapter is the research design.The fifth chapter is the analysis of the data of the study.The sixth chapter is the conclusion.This study has found that through the use of cooperative learning in senior high school English reading teaching,students' reading interests and ability have been significantly improved.At the same time,this study has found the importance of teachers' organization,guidance and participation in the cooperative learning.Students can study,discuss and progress together in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere.
