Study On Geographical Evolution Of Islands Place Names Cultural Landscape

Place names are gradually formed in the process of the emergence and development of human society.Place names cover many historical,geographical,linguistic,and ethnic cultures.Surrounded by the sea,the island is isolated from the mainland.Its unique natural and geographical and historical environment have created the unique cultural landscape of island names.In this study,two major island counties in the Taiwan Strait,Dongshan and Penghu were selected as research areas.The study of naming and cultural landscape of island names explored the naming and changing rules of geographical names,and the relationship between geographical names,natural environment and history,and provide reference for the management,protection,inheritance and development of island names.With GIS analysis,interview and field investigation this paper studies the geographical names of Dongshan Island and Penghu Islands in the Taiwan Strait.Taking the related books and documents of Dongshan County and Penghu County as the basic data,the author uses GIS and metrological and statistical methods to conduct quantitative analysis and summarizes the spatial distribution law and historical variation of island names in Taiwan Strait area.Through the above analysis find that:(1)The distribution of island geographical name culture has obvious features.Natural place names of the islands in the Taiwan Strait are evenly distributed in all regions.Cultural place names are concentrated in the urban areas.Hydrological place names show a certain trend and Penghu has more religion place names.The distribution of geographical names reflect the characteristics of the island's natural environment,as well as the religious culture,military culture,immigration culture,southern Fujian culture,and marine culture in the study area.(2)There are obvious rules for the change of the geographical names of islands.The geographical names of islands are mainly divided into the harmonization and decency of place names,the simplification of place names,and the disappearance and growth of place names.(3)The evolution mechanism of the geographical names of islands is the result of the interaction between islands and humans,and the spread of culture also affects the change of geographical names.The factors that affect the change of geographical names include economic development,population growth and national migration,and changes in state power.Changes in clan power and changes in geographical names often caused by historical and geographical environments.(4)On the one hand,the protection of tourist island names should pay attention to the protection of valuable place names.On the other hand,it should pay attention to the propaganda of place names and the integration of place name culture and tourism consumption.In the process of the evolution of island geographical names,there are many problems such as over-satisfaction,over-simplification,lack of local and historical meanings of new names,and lack of community participation.As a result,the cultural identity of local residents gradually weakens,and the cultural development of geographical names is too commercial.
