This dissertation uses the method of comparing the similarities and differences between cross-civilization studies to compare the differences between the science fiction literature of Arthur C.Clarke and Liu Cixin, and analyzes the differences in the ideological themes and literary images between the two authors under the context of the history and culture of the East and the West.Explore the root causes of this difference and consider its significance. The introduction elaborates the reasons for selecting the topic and summarizes the current research in the academic. The first chapter discusses the attitudes of Clarke and Liu Cixin regarding the relationship between science, technology and human development, moreover, the different attitude towards human beings who try to exceed the “god”;the second chapter analyzes the racist images of the two writers. The difference between the world image, the “scientific god” image and the hero image;the third chapter summarizes the differences in the previous text, and digs deeply into the historical and cultural reasons behind these differences, indicating that the differences between the two writer's science fiction works originate from the West's consciousness of salvation by others and China's consciousness of self-rescue.On this basis, this paper concludes with a discussion of the significance of the cosmopolitan perspective in Liu Cixin's creation.
