"reading-writing integration" can cultivate students' ability to reading and writing.Nowadays,it is one of the directions of Chinese teaching reform.In this study,literature research method,text analysis method,and case study method are used to study the reading and writing in California Common Core State Standards for English Language Arts&Literacy in History/Social Studies,Science and Technical Subjects,reading-writing integrated teaching methods in English Language Arts/English Language Development Framework for California Public Schools,tools and measures to support the implementation of California Common Core State Standards,and specific teaching cases for reading-writing integration to explore the concrete methods of reading-writing integration from the level of curriculum standards to the level of teaching practice in California.The purpose of this paper is to provide references for the implementation of the curriculum standards in classroom in China,and also provide reference for the first-line teachers in our country to implement reading-writing integration teaching.The main question in this paper to answer is how California transforms reading-writing integration from the curriculum standards to teaching practice.This question is divided into four smaller questions to research.They are as follows:1.What are the bases provided by curriculum standards for the implementation of reading-writing integration in California primary schools?2.What pedagogical guidance does curriculum framework provide for reading-writing integration?3.How does California support the implementation of reading-writing integration?4.How is the reading-writing integration actually implemented at the teaching level in California primary schools?The main contents of this paper include the following six parts:In the first chapter,the paper summarizes the research background of this paper.And at the same time,the research design is proposed domestic and foreign research about the reading-writing integration,the Common Core State Standards and ways to implement curriculum standards in teaching practice.In the second chapter,the paper firstly introduces curriculum standards and then analyzes the relationship between reading and writing in the curriculum standards,which provides a basis for reading-writing integration.In the third chapter,the paper introduces the specific reading-writing integrated teaching methods in curriculum framework,and analyzes how the reading-writing integration is implemented in the teaching methods.In the fourth chapter,the paper analyzes how California supports the implementation of curriculum standards from the four aspects:teaching materials,students' language level,teachers' professional development and regional co-supervision.In the fifth chapter,two reading-writing integrated teaching cases were selected to analyze the implementation of the reading-writing integration at the teaching practice level.In the six chapter,conclusions based on the full text are drawn through reasoning and induction from two levels.One is curriculum standards,the other one is teaching practice.Then two suggestions for implementing the curriculum standards and reading-writing integration in China are provided.The conclusions are as follows:At the curriculum standards level,California curriculum standards provide the basis for reading-writing integration by establishing a link between reading and writing;California curriculum framework give specific reading-writing integrated teaching methods based on the consistency of reading and writing in curriculum standards.At the level of support,multi-party resources are integrated to provide supporting tools and measures for teachers to implement curriculum standards in practice.At the teaching level,teachers use teaching methods such as wide reading,close reading,procedural writing,and research writing;they create conditions for reading-writing integration by organizing project learning and cooperative learning;design evidence-based arguments and information integration tasks in teaching activities;highlight elements such as integrated,motivating,engaging,respectful,and intellectually challenging in the reading-writing integrated teaching environment.
