The development of theatrical performances is closely related to the rituals and music system of a dynasty.However,there is few Researchers making the research by combining both of them really.Specific to the period of the Chenghua to Zhengde in the Ming Dynasty,the researchers focused more on the phenomenon of the renaissance of local opera and and the generation of legend,whereas looked little at the institutional change in an overall view.But the fact is that in the ancient society,theatrical performances is actually one part of the rituals and music system,and would be effected by the rituals and music system.For this reason,this paper chooses the "the Four Members of the Imperial Academy" in the Period of Chenghua as the breakthrough point,making a textual research on the on the rituals and music system and theatrical performances in the period of Chenghua to Zhengde in the Ming dynasty.The paper is composed by four chapters:The first chapter provided the situation of the decline of the rituals and music system since Zhengde Dynasty,to clarify the institutional background of the back-to-the-ancients trend in the Mid-Ming Dynasty.Then,make a detailed textual research on the process and significance of the "the Four Members of the Imperial Academy" in the Period of Chenghua,to show its profound influence for official who hope to restore the ancient times in the Mid-Ming Dynasty.Last,clarify the specific history of the back-to-the-ancients trend by the official in the Chenghua Danasty.The second chapter Demolishing "Excessive Temples the suggestions on the rituals and music system by the central official in the Hongzhi Dynasty,to clarify the prosperity of the desire of back-to-the-ancients.Qiujun is the first official who expressed the desire of back-to-the-ancients,by sent his book Daxue Yanyi Bu to the new emperor Xiaozong in the Ming Dynasty.In this book,Qiujun explained how to back-to-the-ancients,and fond the value of the pop music at that time.Then,many official in the Hongzhi period engaged in the trend of back-to-the-ancients.Therefore,this trend prospered further.The third chapter took Demolishing "Excessive Temples" since the Chenghua period to the Hongzhi period.and combed the process of Demolishing "Excessive Temples" by local official from Chenghua Dynasty to the Hongzhi Dynasty.In the process,the official who come from Wuzhong area is very typical,when we research this process.We can found that the behavior Demolishing "Excessive Temples" is comprehensive.The last chapter showed the variety of the rituals and music system,and emphasized the importance of the emperor Wuzong.On the whole,we can find that official's behavior of back-to-the-ancients revealed the variety of the ancient music and pop music.
