Homework is an indispensable part of English Teaching.It plays an important role in consolidating teaching knowledge and improving teaching quality.It is also an important part of students' extracurricular learning English.During internship,it can be found that many high school students can not finish their homework on time and their enthusiasm for homework is not high.In order to explore these problems,this study looks up a large number of literature.On the basis of constructivism theory,formative evaluation theory and under the guidance of New English Curriculum Standards,this research takes homework amount,content,form and evaluation methods into consideration to design and arrange homework and implement it in Xingyi No.1 High School.First,the study fully presents the current situation of English homework arrangement by the analysis of questionnaire and teachers interview.Then,according to the current situation and students' preferences on homework amount,content,form and evaluation methods,improves the homework and implements the new homework arrangement plan in two classes for an 8-week teaching experiment.Classroom observation is carried out during the teaching experiment.Finally,through the analysis of questionnaire,classroom observation,interview and tests,it is proved that the new homework arrangement plan is more effective according to the analysis results of the improvement on the liking degree,classroom activity and test scores.It is concluded that the new homework plan is an effective one.It is suggested that teachers should combine students' own characteristics and needs to design homework,improve students' liking degree for homework,enhance students' interest in doing English homework,promote students' academic performance and finally improve the effectiveness of English homework.
