The Study Of Individual Scholar's Works In Yiwen Zhi From Local Gazetteers

Chinese ancient Yiwen Zhi of local gazetteers,growing out of Yiwen Zhi of official history record,is a kind of local documents with long-standing history and abundant content.The current studies of ancient Yiwen Zhi are mainly document researches,partially theoretical researches,but seldom literary researches based on specific text.This paper combines the individual scholar with their works in Yiwen Zhi,aiming to explore the literary and cultural value of Yiwen Zhi.To exemplify the evaluation attitudes and propagational value in Yiwen Zhi towards individual scholar's works,this paper takes Wang Anshi,who is a controversial scholar from Jiangxi province,as the studying case.Firstly,following the principle that works in local gazetteers must have connections with local background,the paper searches for local gazetteers in different regions where Wang Anshi had been to,collects many versions in different times and combines the information of his works that can be found in these documents.Then,based on these records,the paper analyses the reasons of why these Yiwen Zhi texts contained or excluded Wang Anshi's works and concludes the realistic choosing requirements and influencing factors of Yiwen Zhi.After that,the paper compares several versions of Yiwen Zhi in one region compiled in different times,focuses on their variation and uncovers the potential reasons and results.Finally,viewed the Yiwen Zhi as a literary anthology,this paper deeply discusses the value of literary research towards Yiwen Zhi of local gazetteers regarding to individual scholar on the case of Wang Anshi.The paper shows that the selecting principles of Yiwen Zhi are not only local requirements,but also some complicated factors,such as basic goal of local gazetteers,individual preference,property of works and their spreading and acceptance.These factors influenced the relationship between scholar's works and regional culture in the repeated process of compiling the local gazetteers.Beside that,these factors also contribute to the unique value in the literary research towards scholar's works in Yiwen Zhi.There are two points in the researching value,respectively literary criticism and spreading and acceptance.These values provide not only a studying view closer to history and ordinary people for research of scholar's criticism and spreading,but also a whole new way of reevaluating their historical value and contribution.
