This paper takes Earth Store Bodhisattva as the research object, mainly including three aspects: the first is the thought of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva's deep sorrow and desire as "if hell is not empty,he will not become a Buddha";the second is the ethical law of karma;the third is the idea of life and death to help the living and save the dead.Through these,it discusses the Buddhist ethical thought contained in the Earth Store Bodhisattva and its influence on social value orientation and its significance. So as to provide some references for solving the current social problems about human relations, life and death.Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva has seen all living beings suffering from hell,so he swore to help them avoiding the pain.Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva practiced filial piety, supported all Buddhas, preached Buddhism with a view to developing their mother and other sentient beings, and ultimately achieving the nirvana of "becoming Buddhas and Taoism, and transforming all living beings".The theory of cause and effect holds that the laws of the world are not isolated from each other, but in a chain of cause and effect connected with each other. On that basis, the good and evil behavior of each person is bound to affect their own fate. However,as described in the book of Earth Store Bodhisattva, the story Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva`smother went to hell for doing evil and he saved her in the past has explained the theory of causality in Buddhism. Then,Earth Store Bodhisattva has explained the thoughts of hell, life and death and other human concerns based on the thought of six cycles, the principles of origin theory and causality. These are also the important contents to be expounded in the book of Earth Store Bodhisattva.
