Edward Vuillard is a representative painter of the Nabis,a trendy art group in Paris in the late 19 th century.The combination of new art and symbolism deeply influenced the painting style of this period.Many painters were not only artists,but also designers Vuillard absorbed everything the age endowed.Like most other Nabis members,Vuillard was involved in the book's illustrations,poster and theater design.In addition to becoming a custom artist in the Paris War,he continued to explore large-scale natural and urban landscapes.His most important works are interior portraits,a large slate painting and plenty of photographs.His theme are always surrounded with his family and friends,reflecting the simple realities of daily life in Paris.Vuillard has maintained a sensitivity to painting throughout his career.The number of his works in his life is amazing.In the collection and analysis of relevant picture materials,it could be concluded that he is keen to repeat the theme of female park;Also he pursues the repetition of brush strokes in the performance;he is more subjective than other painters in the use of image and color in the impressionist period;secondly,in his works,the creation of multiple image spacing and the innovation of material techniques are also the characteristics that can not be ignored.Therefore,on the basis of sorting out the relevant studies at home and abroad,this paper mainly analyzes the oil painting creation of Vuillard,probes into the subjective and individual artistic aesthetics and the pursuit of artistic innovation in his works,and excavates the connotation of Vuillard's artistic thought.This paper is composed of four chapters: firstly,Chapter I introduces the life of Vuillard;secondly,Chapter II summarizes the French society in the late 19 th century and the development of French art;Chapter 3 analyzes Vuillard's oil painting creation from the perspectives of theme,expression form,image,color,space and material techniques;Chapter 4 hopes to explore the artistic thought of the painting creation of Vuillard on the basis of summing up the previous research results of Nabis and Vuillard.
