The Importance Of Painting From Life To Contemporary Xie-yi Bird-and-Flower Painting

In contemporary age,on the one hand,Xie-yi bird-and-flower painting follows tradition.On the other hand,some breakers loose spirit of Chinese Painting and nature of Xie-yi while pay more attention to fabrication techniques,such as degumming,salting and paper crumpling,which restrains the development of contemporary Xie-yi bird-and-flower painting.Painting from life can be traced back to the Tang Dynasty,the art theory created by Zhang zao that "Art comes from Life,as well as an artist's inspiration and creation",and its influence on Chinese Painting lasts for a thousand year,which reveals its high research value.The paper is divided into 5 parts:First,the comparison between ancient and contemporary Xie-yi bird-and-flower painting;Second,the ways of painting from life,including on-the-spot drawing and painting with the help of pictures;Third,also the most important,illustrating the approaches of painting from life through five facets,containing material collection,expansion of painting language,development of artist's observation,abstract ability and sentiment,creation of typical image as well as development of painting style;Fourth,expression of Xie-yi bird-and-flower painting based on locality and cultural expression and feelings;Fifth,influence of this research on my own Xie-yi bird-and-flower painting.Through raising concern of painting from life and listing diverse ways of it,the study is aimed at opening up creative thinking,enriching painting language as well as developing comprehensive quality of artists,and also opening new pattern of Xie-yi bird-and-flower painting.
