Popular literature enters the Literary History has always been a problem that has not yet been fully resolved in the academic world.As the main force of popular literature,although the martial arts novel have gained a number of readers of different ages,they have been in an imbalanced state in the distribution of written resources in the Literary History.Throughout the development of the Literary History of the past 100 years,it has been constantly rewritten with the propelling force of the literary values of a particular era,representing the national discourse and the elite discourse.Before the 1980 s,whether it was the emphasis on literary intervention in social enlightenment after the May 4th New Culture Movement or Literature and art belong to politics after the founding of new China,the mainstream culture has always considered the martial arts novel as a countercurrent and combined the strong power of ideology,mercilessly sweeping it out the Literary History,and even completely wipe out the public view.With the mainland’s lifting of the ban on martial arts novels in the 1980 s,the concept of "Chinese literature in the 20 th century" and the slogan of "rewriting Literary History",the martial arts novel have returned to the stage of literature under the expectation of "bringing the wings of Literary History together".While JinYong,the martial arts leader known as a martial arts master,is also stepping into the literary palace under the impetus of all parties’ efforts,and has recovered the long lost literary identity for the martial arts novel in Literary History.But that’s not the case.In terms of structure,the martial arts novel often appear in two chapters in various Literary History: one is “Hong Kong and Taiwan Literature” and the other is “popular literature”.The former is mostly like the appendices spliced into the Literary History at the end,while the latter is often categorized as a chapter with popular literature such as romance fiction,detective fiction,and science fiction.From the content point of view,these literary histories are selected Jin Yong,Liang Yusheng,and Gu Long as the representative writers to simply narrate in the chapters of the martial arts novel;the other part is to summarize Jin Yong’s novels in Hong Kong literature.Its description of Jin Yong’s novels usually includes three aspects: Show the traditional culture;clear modern consciousness and rich image of people.The reason Jin Yong has always been praised by scholars is also inseparable from the mythical effects of creating “Suit both the refined and the common people ",the progress of modern consciousness and the profound historical and cultural foundations.These interpretations are outstanding artistic features in Jin Yong’s works,but in these interpretations,it seems that there are always some really key things missing.The myth effect of the so-called “Suit both the refined and the common people" is the recognition of Jin Yong,or is an olive branch thrown out by the elegant literature on popular literature after a prolonged argument.Instead of saying that the national spirit,modern features,traditional culture and other grand narrative modes are the heights of the "elegant" of Jin Yong’s novels,it is better to say that it is a way of transforming and editing from the elegant literature.Secondly,Whether the complex western theory of “modernity” can be used to interpret martial arts novel this type of traditional Chinese literature,and whether it makes our literary criticism fall into a whirlpool of aphasia.Furthermore,due to the affirmation of Jin Yong by Literary History,its authoritative nature has provided strong protection for Jin Yong’s research work.However,on the other hand,the works of other martial arts novel writers have been completely marginalized,making the martial arts novel presented a single situation.The combination of Literary History and the education system became a discipline,it established the classic,and at the same time,it became a classic,was repeatedly written and gradually lost its vitality.In general,under the cultural circumstances of a special era,the martial arts novels,with their vigorous vitality,set off an upsurge of waves of reading in the masses,constantly impacting the Literary History.As the role of readers has been increasingly emphasized,literary historians quickly adjusted the narrative model of Literary History to accept this type of literature that was once on the Marginal zone.However,because there has not been a literary criticism theory for popular literature,the hurried literary historians have not been able to accurately grasp the inherent development logic of the martial arts novel,making the martial arts novel as the characteristics of popular literature itself and the true cultural significance of huge reading phenomenon hidden behind it cannot always be explained.If Literary History wants wings to show together,it must establish a standard of criticism against popular literature.This requires not only to see the "elegance" of popular literature but also to treat its "Vulgar" objectively.Specifically speaking,firstly,the accurate positioning of Jin Yong’s novels is popular literature,which is one of the wings of literature.Objectively narrates its “vulgar” aspect,reproduces its entertainment recreational features,and shows the social environment and public mentality at that time.Secondly,during the development,the martial arts novels have formed their own unique genre characteristics and independent and integral internal system logic.They are an uncutable whole,which is divided into various chapters of Literary History,or It is simply to choose Jin Yong as a representative writer,unable to grasp its true appearance.Moreover,as one of the important carriers of the martial-culture,the martial arts novel form a kind of cultural phenomenon with Chinese imprint through the mass media under the function of market economy.This is an important value that can not be ignored in the martial arts novel.In the end,affirming its positive side and objectively pointing out its flaws can enable Literary History to play a correct guiding role in guiding reading.The problem of the introduction of martial arts novel reflects that the Literary History still has a long way to go,and the martial arts novels themselves are also facing the dilemma of development.In the face of worries that martial arts are dead,the author believes those hidden forces will wake up,proving martial arts are not dead.
