The Tumbler In The World Of Film:A Research On Yue Feng's Directing And Creation

Feng Yue was a long-term ignored director in the study of Chinese film history,but he can insist in the world of film-making for nearly forty years.He had successively experienced the left-wing film period,soft film period,island film period,the period of enemy occupied,postwar period and the Great Wall period,Dian Mao period,the period of Shaw after he went to Hong Kong.He was involved in creating nearly 100 films which include many types of movie,including romantic film,ethical film,literary and artistic film,crime film,swordsman film,song and dance film,and opera film and so on,the subject matter of the films is more extensive.For nearly forty years of his film work,he can keep up with the trend of the times and cater for the taste of commercial film audiences all the times,which accomplished his standing position of film-making.He was able to shoot successful commercial films in different companies in the course of his creation.As a director in the studio system,the quality of his films is stable,and he can also produce highly artistic classic films.This is closely related to his own commercial considerations and artistic strategies in the distinguished types of commercial films.One is to absorb and learn from foreign films,from imitation to the formation of his own photography experience routine and make some changes in the development of genre film.The second one is to attach importance to the script and to dig out the movie material.Whether it is a native folklore,novel,contemporary drama,traditional opera or foreign drama story,they can all be used for him.The third one is the use of film reflective system.Gradually in genre film to form his own style,and in the unique use of film reflective system for the film narrative service,Huangmei tune films,swordsman films and other unique types to form its own characteristics.The purpose of this paper is to do a vindication for Feng Yue who was a long-term ignored director on the mainstream film history,and to study his creating course about nearly forty years of his film work.This article will be divided into three chapters,Shanghai period,Hong Kong period,and director creation.On the one hand,to fill in the blank of the research on the director of Feng Yue,on the other hand,take the director of Feng Yue as an example,in the development history of Chinese commercial films,observe the existence status of early commercial films,as well as the long line development of Shanghai film makers until to the development context of Hong Kong to provide a supplement to the study of Chinese film history.
