On The Aesthetic Characteristics Of Post-80s Youth Writing

Post-80 s youth writing,an important and a special phenomenon for Chinese modern literature,has been aesthetically characterized by group rebellion and sentimentality.Not only does it cover the cognition of youth and growth,but also centers on individual life kernel and love experiences.Yang Zewei,one of those writers,enriches the writing with her works.She has integrated the experience of her youth and her understanding of life into words and sentences,showing common growing backgrounds,life experiences,educational modes and knowledge systems of the post-80 s generation and similar life beliefs and thinking modes.With emotional expressions,she reveals their hovering anxiety and pursuits of the meaning of life.Viewing from Yang's perspective,the author tries to explore her writing style and aesthetic characteristics,and in the hope that by doing so,to grasp the overall writing style as well as the aesthetic characteristics of the post-80 s youth writing.Scanning their writings,rebellious,melancholic and cruel sentimentality can be found everywhere in their works of the only child youth,and the only children as a group choose to “go away” then “return”,reflecting the incompleteness of characters and the mental plight in their growth in a symbolic method.In Yang's works,the characters' childhood trauma,as well as gains and losses in fast food love exhibit the sadness in growth and reasonably explain the incomplete tragedies.Youth writing proceeds in the description of sentimental feelings,flashing the spark of reason occasionally.With the depicting strategy of feelings and rationality,Yang shows her mild feminism and sets foot in the modern literature in a feminist perspective.This strategy evokes the metaphysical reflections,namely philosophic aesthetics of the writing,on their growing space——city and the relationship between human and city.Based on the study of common aesthetic style of post-80 s youth writing and the uniqueness of Yang's works,the author specifies that Yang has inherited and developed the writing style,and makes further expectations about youth writing and Yang's future creations from the perspectives of genre,historical awareness and philosophic aesthetics.
