The Effects Of Compartmentalized Xiqu Communication Regarding Overseas Xiqu Communication

As a unique form of stage art in China,xiqu possesses specific aesthetic characteristics.Throughout its development,its convention,subjunctivity,and integrity require the audience to acquire certain canons for an effective xiqu connoisseurship.In fact,at present,these rules are being lost to an audience who mostly experience screen art and amusement.Under these circumstances,xiqu art requires the intervention of communication.As China's traditional art,overseas communication is an indispensable part of xiqu communication.Whereas domestic communication still requires specific study,overseas xiqu communication demands special care.Nevertheless,given a vertical look,overseas xiqu communication focuses on theatre as its primary vector,and performance as its content.This approach potentially puts the domestic and overseas audiences into the same cultural context.To communicate xiqu with clear goals,compartmentalized communication is an applicable idea.This idea deconstructs the comprehensive whole of xiqu,as an approach to help an overseas audience step across the threshold of xiqu.This paper takes xiqu as its ontological center,using Communication as theoretical support,in combination with the main communicative(e.x.: Mass Communication)approach,in order to analyze compartmentalized communication of xiqu,and its relationship with icon based communication,using three mass communication theories: pseudo-environments,stereotyping,and the spiral of silence,to testify to the feasibility of compartmentalized xiqu communication.In this paper,the introduction brings together a brief summery of academic achievements regarding xiqu communication.The first section of this paper covers the communicative history from the North Song dynasty until today,to dig in to and summarize the limits of xiqu communication.The second part of this paper explains what is elementary xiqu communication and illustrates with live examples.The third part of this paper tend to combine the limits in the first part,and to use icon communication and the three masscommunication effect theories to prove that xiqu elementary communication offers effective function to xiqu overseas communication.In short,by combing through the history of xiqu communication,this paper first discovers the limitations in xiqu communication,then posits the solution,which is compartmentalized xiqu communication,before finally testifying to its feasibility.This paper stands upon what academia has built,striving to deepen the study of overseas xiqu communication,to provide experiences and inspiration to the future of xiqu communication.
