Alienation,Metaphor And Self-examination:A Study On Black Mirror From The Perspective Of Philosophy Of Technology

From the perspective of Philosophy of Technology,this paper explores/discusses the phenomenon of the alienation in people's life,the way how people cognize and use the media and how to balance the relationship between people and media-technology on the basic of observation and analysis of the British serial opera,“Black Mirror”,as a special case,and of the questionnaire survey.It is found that the negative alienation of media technology is reasonable in the dramatic background in the plot of “Black Mirror”,which tells a story that humankind would be forced to compromise by the negative influences of technology in the process from utilizing the media to be utilized by the media.The metaphor of media technology,consisted of physical body,technological body and civilized body,is the cognization of media technology.The cognization of media technology,a dispensable part of people's life,is accomplished by the physical body,in the process from recognition to behavioral changing.The media technology takes people's cognition into the virtue space.But the physical body is actually absent while they feeling like being present.The media technology is embedded in people's physical body and caused the physical and cognitional extension.People's recognition of technology is aimed to use technology eventually.The media technology promotes the diversity of culture,but prevent the cultural transfer.People are disciplined by their different cultural background,social rules and ideology.The media technology has different effects on different aspects in people' life.The result of questionnaire survey show that people's attitude toward the media technology is positive,which is told negative in “Black Mirror”.But the problems,including the contradiction between sharing and privacy,reality and virtuality,selection and freedom,caused by media technology are existed in real society actually.At last,to balance the relationship between people and media technology,it is feasible relatively to catch the nature of technology,balance the autonomy of technology and acquire correct view of technology.
