Xi Jinping : The Governance of China(Volume I)is a collection of President Xi Jinping's speeches,talks,answers,congratulatory letters,etc.,covering the period from November 15 th 2012 to June 13 th 2014.There are 79 articles.This book fully reflect the linguistic characteristics of Xi.Different from the previous study of Xi 's language style from the rhetorical point of view,this paper analyzes the book from the perspective of discourse,so as to enrich the study of Xi 's discourse system.Coherence and cohesion are the core of discourse research.Based on Halliday's theory of discourse function in systemic functional linguistics and combines with the actual situation of the text,this paper analyzes the contextual factors and internal cohesion mechanisms that influence discourse coherence in this book.With regard to the discourse coherence research of Xi Jinping : The Governance of China,social cultural context factors and situational context factors can be analyzed to explain the discourse coherence characteristics.Considering that the book is mostly about the content of political theory,the aspects of material civilization,political system,history and culture,nationality and state can be chosen to analyze social and cultural context factors.While the situational context factors are studied mainly from the consistency of field,tenor,and formIn terms of the internal cohesive mechanism of Xi Jinping : The Governance of China,the cohesive devices are divided into structural cohesive devices and non-structural cohesive devices from the perspective of the intra-text cohesion mechanism.As far as structural cohesive devices are concerned,this book mainly focuses on thematic and thematic structures and isomorphism,while on non-structural cohesive devices,reference,substitution,ellipsis,logical connectives and lexical cohesion are used more frequently in this book.In combination with data analysis,reference,logicalconnectives and lexical cohesion are used more frequently than those of substitution and omission.In a word,this paper analyzes the discourse of this book,so as to enrich the analysis of the discourse system of Xi.However,there are still some shortcomings and limitations in this paper.Due to the time constraints,the text in Xi Jinping : The Governance of China(Volume II)which is published in November 2017 has not been selected,so the collection of corpus and data is limited.There are some problems that need to be further discussed.Future studies can find new points and solve new problems from a more macro perspective.
