Hu Yin's Du Shi Guan Jian And Its Historical Review

Du Shi Guan Jian(??????)is a historical commentary written by Hu Yin,a scholar in the Southern Song Dynasty,who commented on characters and events contained in the Zi Zhi Tong Jian(??????)by“Chun Qiu Yi Li”(“????”).Hu Yin discusses historical events and characters,and reaffirms the Confucian group's pursuit of Confucianism and their special attention to social reality by“Chun Qiu Yi Li”.The rule judges the historical record and seeks for the application of reality.Therefore,Chen Yinke used to comment on this book as“the politics of the Southern Song Dynasty”.The social reality of the Southern Song Dynasty domestic trouble and foreign invasion is written by Hu Yin.After the“Si Shi An”(“???”),Hu Yin wrote the book to express his dissatisfaction with the current situation and the pursuit of the ideal society of the Confucian.The“Chun Qiu Yi Li”,“Lou Xue”(“??”)and the rise of the trend of commentary and commentary in the Southern Song Dynasty are the theoretical foundations for Du Shi Guan Jian.Du Shi Guan Jian refers to Hu Yin's pursuit of Confucian ideal personality and society.He attached great importance to the self-cultivation of the monarch and emphasized that the Confucian idea of “cultivation” is the core to create a perfect practical monarch.He pointed out that on the basis of the monarch's self-cultivation,the monarch should also satisfy Confucian rituals in self-cultivation,relationship between monarchs and officials,relations between the king and the people,state governance,and national diplomacy so as to promote the prosperity and development of the society and the country's Long-term stability.In order to cultivate morality of the monarchy,Hu Yin made concrete suggestions and measures based on the standards of the Spring and Autumn and Neo-Confucianism.However,because of Hu Yin's over-respecting of "righteousness" and "rationality",the commentary it made is not correct.Consequently,it cannot be excused from the refutation and censure of later generations.Du Shi Guan Jian has a great influences on later generations.It is reflected in the large number of editions and the wide range of official and private records.Moreover,there are many excellent Confucian scholars quoting its content from Song to Qing,especially the works of Zhu Xi's and his students.In addition,because of his historical commentary on the Zi Zhi Tong Jian,it also has an important influence on the development of the historiography of “Tong Jian”.
