Woodblock New Year painting is one of the traditional Chinese artistic expression forms which is a kind of folk art in our country had already existed in the eastern Han dynasty and the Six dynasties period.In the Song dynasty,the New Year paintings were flourishing,and in the reign of emperor qianlong of the qing dynasty,the workshops of New Year paintings were increasing,showing an unprecedented prosperity.From an-cient times to the present,the traditional Chinese New Year painting art has been con-tinuously developing and advancing on the basis of historical styles.Give us a new cognition as a new pose rather than an impression of stereotypes.This change was con-nected with Chinese national conditions of Qing dynasty.in the long river of human culture and art development,we know that any change and innovation are closely con-nected with social vicissitude and the development of the country,New Year pictures,have no exception.Since the birth of the New Year pictures,the content of the New Year pictures has being generally healthy,auspicious and eulogy,like "lei yue yue long gate","three friends of cointer","ladies and girls" and so on.Before Ming and qing dynasties,gods and women,opera characters and historical stories were the main content of the New Year pictures.In the last years of the Qing dynasty,the war,the Wu Hsu reform and the new things were the focus of the society at that time,and thay became the new theme and content of the New Year paintings.After the founding of the People's Republic,the expression of the founding leaders became the symbol of the new era,and the female dolls and flowers and wormfish in the past years were also changed into characters,stories and local customs.To a certain extent,the New Year paintings of different times reflected different social forms and people's feelings.It can be said that the continuous innovation of the theme and content of the New Year pictures has injected a new pos-sibility into the development of traditional New Year paintings.In terms of new func-tions,the innovation of the new contents had been always in accordance with the new social demand,improving the function of the New Year pictures and promoting the development of New Year paintings art ontology attribute transformation by itself.At the same time,the innovation of new year pictures provided a quick way to the spread-ing of more new things and ideas.As the Chinese traditional duplicate prints,folk woodcut New Year pictures break away from people in traditional cognitive category step by step,From the new progress in the period of late Qing and the early Republic of China,we would realized deeply that the New Year pictures transited on their func-tion and value,also we can say,in the 1930 s,the introduction of creative prints is not an accident,but the fact is that the development of Chinese indigenous duplicate prints has some characteristics of present a creative prints,slowly rise has been introduced and prints for the creation of a ready.In the long process of engraving art's growing up in China,from the content of traditional replication engravings in the spreading of dynasties to qing dynasty the im-proved custom print's wide spread,also from the bringing in and spring up creative prints in 1931 to today we are thinking of contemporary Chinese printmaking creation and theory of new thinking and perspective,printmaking has emerged as a formal art category.During this period,Chinese engraving has realized the transformation from copy to creation,and with the change of times and the transformation of the country,it is the most important moment in the history of Chinese engraving.Therefore,this paper is mainly focus on the special period of Qing and the early ROC,through the study a found that the improved folk custom prints' new appearance the creation of the prints introduced from abroad late have the same effect on the content and function,thus this paper further explored the relationship between the improved prints and the creative prints meanwhile a tried to think deeply inte the prints' contents of this period,the func-tional transformation and transformation of art ontology problems and so on.
