While the Middle East Railway was being established,a variety of immigrants from Russian,Jewish and Eastern European regions carrying out both new inhabitants and advanced industrious technologies,moved into Harbin,a little fishing village,and made it developed promptly into the largest city in Far East area.The City,of which the economic trading,population size,municipal construction or science and technology all reached an unparalleled level,changed greatly.The rise of liquor industry symbolized the open-up of Harbin modern industry which then marked a transit of localized civilization from a self-sufficient traditional agricultural society to an early modern society.The liquor industry serves a key role in the development of Harbin City.The liquor workshops in Harbin as a fishing village alongside SonghuaRiver before the establishment of Middle East Railway.With the Middle East Railway has been established,the construction of modern marketing system and the development of local economy led up to it.The flock of immigrants at home and abroad and the demand for consumption consolidated it.The early developing stages of Harbin liquor industries during the period of1898-1945.The first stage was prior to 1916,briefly introducing the development history of Harbin Liquor.The second stage was after 1917,in which the outcoming of Russian October Revolution brought in Harbin.More Russians with more demands for liquor named as good times.The flock of immigrants from Europe,mainly from Russia,impacted the liquor development of Harbin locality,especially its society and economy.The sluggish development of Harbin modern industries during the period of1931-1945,including that Japan manipulated Harbin liquor industries after September18thIncident.The twists and turns of liquor in Harbin during the period of Japanese puppet rule are analyzed and given the historical significance and social impact.The impacts from Japan and Russia as external factors on Harbin local liquor,including beers or wines as kind of media how they can impact the localized cultural and economic exchanges between China and foreigners.The development of Harbin modern liquor industry impacted by Japan and Russia has boosted the process of Harbin agricultural and industrial modernization,improved the urbanization and integrated into daily lives.This thesis puts emphasis on external factors that have impacted Harbin City in the respects of economic technology and cultural life,and presents lessons learned from Harbin modern liquor industry on current China?s liquor.
