As one type of publicity materials, tourism text provides basic information of tourism attractions and draws attention of tourists. In recent years, more foreign tourists choose China as their tourism destination for its continuously enhanced international influence.Based on this, the quality of C-E translation of tourism text in China has received increasing attention. However, cultural differences of Chinese and English languages also lead to obstacles in publicizing domestic tourism attractions in China. The current study of translating tourism text still needs further improvement. Therefore,it is of great significance in studying translation practice of Chinese tourism text. This report is based on the author's translation project---Pucheng Travel Guide. In his practice, the author summarizes the features of tourism text: using culture-specific items and idioms at linguistic level;dealing with information structures and long sentences at structural level;and flexible disposal of all sorts of classical Chinese and cultural differences. After detailly analyzing the source text and summarizing the needs of target readers, functions and features of Chinese and English tourism texts, the author tends to,under the guidance of adaptation theory, discuss how to make adaptation in the translation process. On this basis, the author plans to put forward corresponding translation techniques including annotation, addition or omission, paraphrase as well as dividing and restructuring in the translation process after categorizing the above translation difficulties in order to adapt to the reading and cognition habits of target readers and convey useful information in source text. The author hopes to provide references to translators in the tourism industry.
