Study On The Cultural Identity Dilemma Of Female Images In Geling Yan’s Immigrant Novels

Geling Yan(1958-)has a high reputation in terms of Overseas Chinese Literature.There were many works that she did,which had been adapted into movies and TV shows.At the same time,images that she shaped also on be half of the immigrants of the 1990 s.From 21 century,the localization tendency of Geling Yan’s novels is becoming more and more obvious,which connected with the cultural identity dilemma that female migrants suffered.However,there has been no widespread concern and discussion in academic circles.Thus,there are further space on studying the cultural identity dilemma of female images in Geling Yan’s novels.There are five chapters overall.The first chapter mainly reviewed the previous studies on Geling Yan’s immigrant novels.Explored the possibility of studying cultural identity dilemma on female images.Then,introduced the researching methods,researching ideas and innovations that I used.The second chapter classified the immigrant female images of Geling Yan’s novels through text reading.As the images of earth-mather,the desire of a subject,and the disappointed artist,these kind of images generally described the female migrants’ features.The third chapter talked the specific performances about the cultural identity dilemma through text reading.On the other hand,summarized the characteristics of female identity construction and the cultural factors that influenced the construction of female identity.Finally,introduced the reasons for the plight of immigrant women’s cultural identity.The forth chapter discussed the value and significance of cultural identity of immigrant women.Intensively studied the value of Geling Yan’s immigrant novels in her personal space,times and cultural comunication.The last chapter analyzed the reasons why she turning to the creation of films and local novels these years to explore the creative restriction that Geling Yan suffered,through the cultural identity dilemma of the female images.
