With the acceleration of China's urbanization process,many towns have been blindly following others in their construction.Consequently,the phenomenon of urban assimilation is becoming more and more serious.The monotonous way of urban construction has ruined the unique cultural context,cutting off their unique character,which has taken away their advantage in the fierce market competition.Therefore,it is a prerequisite to introduce the concept of urban brand image design,which means building the brand image of the town and improving the core competitiveness.This paper studies the visual identification system in the urban brand image system,discusses how to apply regional culture to shape the urban characteristics of brand visual image and provides methods and ideas for application of the regional culture in urban brand image visual recognition system design.On the basis of investigation and research,this paper firstly expounds the relationship between regional culture and visual identity system design of urban brand image,summarizes the visual representation methods of regional culture in the visual image design of urban brands at home and abroad through the combination of theory and case and analyzes three different types of urban brand visual image shaping cases in China,drawing a conclusion of the elements of regional culture in the design of visual identification system of urban brand image.Next,theoretical research results are applied to the design and demonstration of the brand image visual recognition system of the ancient town of Hongyang in Eastern Guangdong Province.It is found that regional culture is of great value in shaping the brand visual image of urban characteristics.Regional culture is the connotation meaning of visual image of urban brand.The visual image design of town brand can not be separated from the support of regional culture.Therefore,according to the selection of regional cultural elements according to the urban brand concept,the use of multiple visual expression methods is the key to successfully shaping the visual image of the urban brand.
