A Study Of Mirror Image In Borges’ Works

Mirror is a favorite and fearful image of Borges.This paper generalize the mirror images of fiction in the first and second collections of Borges’ s works,that published by Shanghai Translation Publishing House in 2015 and 2016 from the perspective of psychology,psychoanalysis,and narratology.There are three types of mirrors in Borges’ s works,the mirror of proliferation,the mirror of reference,and the mirror of voyeurs.The mirror of proliferation points out that mirrors reproduce space and reproduction through the reproduction of space.It is supported by Zeno’s spatial paradox and is Borges’ s exploration of space.The reference mirror divides the mirror into a reference to the origin of the universe and a reference to memory.It is the search for the origin of the universe and memory,involving Borges’ s thoughts about the human subject and the universe in the Gnostic discourse.The mirror of voyeurs is based on Lacan’s mirror theory,and the peeping of mirrors has the dual gaze of the self and the other.Borges used this to express the relationship between the self and the other,emphasizing the uncertainty of the self.The last chapter went up to the discussion of the relationship between the mirror and Borges’ work.It pointed out how Borges collaborated with the textual theory through the mirror metaphor,and explaining the three creative features of Borges’ s fiction,anti-logic,and gameplay from the perspective of mirror imagery.Finally,it emphasizes the influence of Borges’ s creation aesthetics on later Chinese and foreign literature and its significance of enlightenment.The purpose of this paper is to explore the meaning behind the mirror image of Borges’ and the connection between mirrors and creations.The author attempts to use the mirror image as an entry point to clarify the aesthetic features of its literary creation,highlight the significance and value of its literary creation,and enrich Borges’ research in China.
