As a complex communicative activity, interpreting can be influenced by many factors. In addition to criteria such as fidelity, integrity, and logical coherence, fluency stands for an important measurement for the quality of interpreting.Fluency is a key factor that can shape the audience's direct feeling about the interpreting output.Disfluency in interpreting often results in interruption of the delivery flow and affects the audience's evaluation of the interpreter's performance and ability. Therefore, attention should be paid to disfluencies in interpreting. In April 2017,the author was entrusted by Digi to work as an interpreter for a speaker in the conference.Based on the consecutive interpreting service provided by the author, this study report briefs the whole process of the task including pre-task communication, material preparation,on-the-spot interpreting and post-task analysis. The author went through the recordings and transcription to collect necessary data.To form the theoretical framework of this study, the author referred to previous researches on speech disfluencies by various scholars.By learning from previous researches and studies, the author formulated a research scheme specific for this report to facilitate the analysis process. In this report, disfluencies occurring in the authors interpreting can be mainly divided into three categories: pauses, repeats, and self-repairs,which can further be subdivided into different groups. The author carefully selected typical examples of disfluencies and found out that the causes behind the problems includes habitual pauses, hesitation on content, correction of errors, reviewing and planning.Reflecting upon the disfluencies in this interpreting practice, the author completes the study report to provide references for interpreter trainees in avoiding unnecessary disfluencies and improving their interpreting performances.
