In addition to sense consistency, completeness and accuracy, fluency of the target language is another important quality assessment criterion in consecutive interpreting. In this thesis, the author will clarify the importance of fluency in target language by summarizing the findings of theoretical analysis and empirical research on the evaluation of interpreting, followed by brief introduction of three main features of disfluency in interpreting: selfrepairs, repeats, and pauses. This thesis is a case study based on the mock interpreting of the keynote speech delivered by President Xi Jinping at the opening session of the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in 2017.The author will make full use of three methods to analyze the disfluency in her consecutive interpreting, namely: documentary research, transcription and analytical method.According to the transcript, most of the pauses are the results of self-repairs and repeats, therefore the author will mainly focus on these two features.Meanwhile, given the objective of this thesis is to improve the fluency in interpreter's output, the author will delve into the causes of self-repairs and repeats. The incorrect expressions in B language, excesses usage of complex expression, two bad expression habits and inefficient note-taking are the major reasons.Based on this case study, the author will propose three possible strategies to improve the fluency in target language:(1)to improve integrated interpreting skills through the rehearsal training and bilingual interpreting training,(2)to improve note-taking efficiency by choosing proper logic links and symbols,(3)to correct bad expression habits through appropriate self-monitoring.
