With the further development of globalization, the concept of cultural globalization has already become the hot topic of international community. As we all know,Chinese culture enjoys a long-standing and profound history,it is not only the bright pearl of the Chinese nation through 5,000 years, but also the great treasure of the world. As an excellent platform to better promote the external publicity of Chinese culture, the Confucius Institutes have bloomed everywhere around the world, and have been widely welcomed by the people all over the world. With the constant development of information and network technology, the Internet has provided people with more efficent ways of further communication, and has played an important role in the process of cultural development and transmission. The fast development of the Confucius Institutes cannot be achieved without the contribution of website construction, which provides a great platform for Confucius Institutes to have inner communications and external promotions,it is not only a convenient communication access to Confucius Institutes followers and Sinological culture lovers at home and abroad, but also a bridge of friendship between Chinese people and people around the world.Since the Internet owns the every function of advertising media, such as text, image, and color, the audiences can have a easy access to the relevant information of Confucius Institutes about course description, teacher resources, teaching resources and scholarships, etc. In addition, the Confucius Institutes can be promoted with a good image of educational brand through words and vivid pictures via the websites.Given the different audiences at home and abroad, the website construction of Confucius Institutes is inevitably involved with web page translations.Websites of multilingual version should be established for people across the world. The process of web page translations is also inevitably involved with recontextualization, which requires the translation from the source language into the target language, and the source context has to be taken apart so that parts of the contextual elements can be acquired and the new context can be structured through updating and restructuring.(Wu Jianguo & Li Xinmeng 2017),by the means of addition, deletion, substitution and rearrangement, the four transformation methods,so as to completely convey the source context cultures to audiences from target context cultures,to satisfy the requirements of them at the same time, and thereby achieve effective transmissions of Chinese culture. This paper aims to explore the recontextualization mechanism of web page translations of Confucius Institutes, from the perspective of Sinological culture transmission, through answing the following three research questions:(1)In the external publicity of sinological culture, what recontextualization process will the web page translations of Confucius Institutes go through?(2)How do the Confucius Institutes guide the web page translations with the recontextualization principles?(3)In the external publicity of sinological culture, why should the Confucius Institutes guide web page translations with recontextualization theory and principles? In order to address these research questions, this paper, based on the recontextualization framework of Bernstein(1990)about pedagogic discourse and the recontextualization theory of van Leeuwen(1993)about social practice(including discursive practice),firstly analyzes the web page translations of 30 Confucius Institutes, studies the recontextualization processes of the sinological culture transmission and web page translation, explores the recontextualization and transformation phenomena, and interprets the important applications of recontextualization and its analytical framework during the transmission of chinese culture. Then,it summarizes the recontextualization principles of the web page translation of the Confucius Institutes. Finally,in view of the analytical framework and principles of recontextualization, the author attempts to do the translation practice on those Chinese web pages which have no English versions. It is hoped that this paper may provide a new perspective of research for cultural transmission.Through the research,it is found that,in the external publicity of sinological culture, the web page translation of the Confucius Institutes should go through the following recontextualization process: First of all,in terms of the participants, the Confucius Institutes should sort out the differences in audience at home and abroad, such as language, culture and their demands.Next, the Confucius Institutes should recontextualize the sinological culture, which can be achieved by four transformation methods, namely, addition, deletion, substitution, and rearrangement. Then, the Confucious Institutes should adopt different leading methods: on the one hand, leading Chinese volunteers and teachers to participate in the practices and leading the foreign students to achieve cognition;on the other hand, developing the cognition of foreign students by promotion, and thereby achieving the effective transmissions of sinological culture.Meanwhile, the web page translation shold be accordance with the recontextualization principles, namely, dynamical direction, concrete presentation, timely feedback, and complete transmission,so as to better promote the external publicity of sinological culture.
