Regarding South African Chinese major undergraduates as the objects of the survey,the questionnaire on the learning motivation of South Africa Chinese majors and culture identity is composed on the basis of the research on the motivation and culture identity of learning second language home and abroad.Meanwhile,factor analysis is taken to study its types,descriptive analysis and correlation analysis to figure out the impact on the types and canonical correlation analysis to dig into the relationship between culture identity and learning motivation.The results indicate:The learning motivation of South Africa Chinese majors can be divided into environment motivation,interest motivation,instrumental motivation and abroad motivation,among which environment motivation is the strongest,then interest motivation on culture;while instrumental motivation has no evident advantage.Culture identity is divided into emotional,cognitive and behavior factors.African students demonstrate emotional identity towards Chinese culture.They appreciate Chinese culture but on the basis of the little understanding of Chinese culture.By studying the type of motivation and culture identity factors,a positive correlation is found between the learning motivation of South Africa Chinese majors and Chinese culture.Moreover,students with interest motivation will go deep into Chinese culture more than those with instrumental motivation.At the same time,specific strategy on encouraging learning motivation and culture teaching is proposed according to research outcomes.
