The Presupposition Research Of Xi Jinping:The Governance Of China

This paper takes 79 selections of the book Xi Jinping:The Governance of China as the research object,analyzed the presupposition in the article from the two aspects of semantics and pragmatics,and dug into the implicit information in Xi Jinping's language,and then discussed the process that Xi Jinping take advantage of presupposition strategy to publicize the Governing Thought,which is helpful to fully understand and wholly grasp the connotation of Xi Jinping's Governing Thought.The whole paper is divided into four chapters.The first chapter introduced the relevant situation of the topic,and summarized the development of presupposition research and Xi Jinping's language research,which lays a theoretical foundation for this paper.The second chapter analyzed presupposition phenomenon of the selections from the perspective of semantics.Firstly,the author explained the essential features of semantic presupposition.It is believed that the sentences studied in the selections all come from objective facts and are logically true propositions.Then the author divided presupposition triggers in the selections,thinks that there are five kinds of presupposition triggers,including change of state words,implicative verbs,iteratives,the degree adverbs indicating progressive meaning and the sentence pattern.Among them,iteratives is the most widely used trigger type in Xi Jinping'language.Behind it is the degree adverbs indicating progressive meaning and change of state words,the sentence pattern is the least frequent trigger type.The act that Xi Jinping use a large number of presupposition triggers in his language provided a reasonable explanation for the focus information,reflecting the logical compactness of the selections and the depth of Xi Jinping's Governing Thought.The third chapter analyzed the presuppositions phenomenon of the selection from the perspective of pragmatics,focusing on the relationship between Xi Jinping,the masses and Xi Jinping's Governing Thought.Xi Jinping integrated people's familiar objective facts and national common values into his language to make it can be widely accepted by the masses,reflecting the characteristics of mutual knowledge and common ground of presupposition,He also takes into account the specific contextual factors to ensure his language is appropriate,reflecting appropriateness of presupposition.Then the authorclassified the presuppositions phenomenon of the selections according to the content of presuppositions,think there is factual presupposition,belief presupposition and cultural presupposition of three types of presupposition.Among them,the factual presupposition is most frequently used,indicating that Xi Jinping is adept at elevating the number of objective facts to enhance discourse persuasiveness.The belief presupposition mainly refers to the national values in Xi Jinping's thoughts,and it fully reflects the overall interests of the Chinese nation.Cultural presupposition is the part of traditional culture in Xi Jinping's thoughts,and it is the presupposition type with national characteristics.Finally,the author summarized the important functions of pragmatic presupposition of the selections.In terms of the stylistic,presupposition can ensure the linguistic economical and simple,in terms of the content,it can make the focus information stand out,in terms of the structure,it can connect the context,in terms of expression effects,it can enhance persuasiveness.The fourth chapter is the conclusion part,the author elaborated the important conclusions of the full text.
