Design And Implementation Of The Automatic Scoring System For English Writing

With the deepening of China's reform and opening up,English is also more and more widespread and is gaining great popularity.English writing is an important part of English language use and expression.Under the traditional English teaching mode,the students' training on writing is insufficient and their writing skills are improving rather slowly.In addition,because of the subjectivity of manual grading,the validity and reliability of marking are not high.Therefore,the evaluation work of essays has become the main bottleneck restricting the progress of writing teaching.Due to the development of natural language processing technology,great progress has been made in the technology of automatic word segmentation,part of speech tagging and syntactic analysis.Based on the actual situation of English learners in our country,this paper studies the related technologies of automatic grading of English essay,and a natural scoring system of English essay based on natural language processing is realized.This article mainly explores from the following aspects:To start with,this topic studies the main techniques of English essay grading.It evaluates English essays from the perspective of language and content.In terms of language,the essay is evaluated from the two dimensions of vocabulary and sentence respectively.In the evaluation of lexical quality,the lexical items are evaluated from the aspects of the number of lexicons,the proportion of wrong words,the average length of lexical words,the degree of lexical enrichment,and the distribution of lexical words.In the aspect of sentences,evaluation mainly deals with the average number of punctuation marks,words,phrases,and grammatical errors in each sentence and sentence grammar and other aspects.In grammar checking,approaches based on the rules and statistical phase are adopted.In the aspect of content quality evaluation,the subject adopts the TF-IDF-based method to extract the keywords,so that the screener can judge whether the essay is "out of order" based on the extracted keywords.Furthermore,based on the automatic grading technique of English essay introduced in the first point,an automatic grading system of English essay based on natural language processing is designed and implemented.The system is mainly composed of five modules,namely,the score module,N-Gram management module,the rule management module,the score standard setting module and the example sentence recommendation module.And it introduces in detail the implementation principles and the main functions of the five modules,and shows the main function interface of the scoring system as well.In the scoring module,the system not only gives the author the total score of the essay,but also feeds back the language quality,the result of grammar checking and the keyword list in the essay,and as for the grammatically incorrect sentences,the system will recommend three grammatically correct ones to users for reference.For the case of misjudgment in grammar detection,the user can also handle the case of miscarriage of justice manually.
