Study On The Transformation Of Animal Husbandry In Modern Gansu Province

At the end of the 19 th century,with the strong intervention of science and technologycharacterized by experiments from western agriculture and animal husbandry,Chinese traditional agriculture and animal husbandry circuitously moved forward to the modern agriculture and animal husbandry by inches under the background of “the country being forced to open” and “the eastward transmission of western sciences”.In Gansu,a relatively isolated area of northwest China,the modernization of animal husbandry is somewhat sluggish.After the September 18 th Incident,the Northeast was Japanese-occupied and Northern China was in critical condition.The National Government resource and people from all walks of life of the society put forward the slogans of “Development of Northwest” and “Exploiting Northwest China” to deal with the threat of external invading forces.Government officials,Chinese and foreign experts and scholars formed scientific missions to investigate and study in northwestern provinces such as Gansu.Since then,the national government has launched an upsurge in the development of the northwestern provinces including Gansu and beyond.After all kinds of scientific investigation,people put forward the idea of developing northwest China,such as developing transportation,opening education,immigrating and developing animal husbandry.However,after heated discussion,the development of animal husbandry with traditional advantages and adaptability to local conditions has become the consensus of the whole society.Although the traditional animal husbandry development process contains many excellent production methods and techniques,the development of traditional animal husbandry is indeed faced with many difficult problems that can’t be solved by old methods.Therefore,it is an inevitable trend to absorb advanced animal husbandry science and technology in the West to transform the domestic animal husbandry.Due to its relatively superior traffic conditions,high endowment of livestock resources,and relatively stable social and economic environment,Gansu has become the center of the improvement of the animal husbandry.Under the background of the “development of the Northwest” strategy,a large number of animal husbandry cooperatives and enterprises on improvement,promotion,education institutionshave landed in Gansu.The national government intended to rely on all kinds of different levels of animal husbandry,adopt the western animal husbandry science and technology and management methods,to improve the traditional animal husbandry,cultivate livestock talent,promote advanced science and technology and use Gansu as the center to radiate the northwestern provinces,and then realize the goal of improving and developing animal husbandry in Gansu and northwest China and finally achieve the goal of establishing a nation during the War of Resistance Against Japan.It is a series of measures from national government includingthe improvement of science and technology,education popularization and processing trade of livestock productsthat provide a development opportunity to animal husbandry of Gansu Province in the traditional backwardness,which makes the animal husbandry in Gansu provincemore normative,orderly and scientific.In this process,the ethos of scientific investigation and experiment has arisen.And technological improvement system of animal husbandry isgradually established.Meanwhile,forthedevelopment of animal husbandry,new factors such as cooperatives and new processing enterprises have been forced to build,which has contributed to the trend of high commercialization and extroversion in livestock trade in Gansu.All above systematic practices have become the main symbol for animal husbandry in Gansu to realize modern transformation.With serious lack of human and financial resources caused by anti-Japanese war and personnel floating,it is extremely difficult to improve animal husbandry and deliver more results,which eventually makes the transition halfway.Therefore,the traditionallivestock production is still dominant in the region,and even coexists with modern factors for a long time.Despite all that,this kind of practice is worth affirming.Governments at all levels make the way of livestock production step into the modernizing process through scientific experiments and lay the foundation of sciencefor the development of animal husbandry in Gansu province after the founding of new China.
