A Study On The Stage Division Of The Tombs In The North Dynasty

The tomb figurines in the North Dynasty had a clear evolutionary way.Through the analysis of the types of tomb figurines,this paper believes that the standing beast of the Town was an early form of the town beasts in the North Dynasty.It developed to the middle and late of Northern Dynasty,and the popular style became a squat and prone position,the combination of human face and tomb beasts with animal face also form a fixed pattern.The style of repressing tombs warriors had gradually transformed a nomadic style into Han style,and shape became slender,the decoration is more splendid.According to the shape change,it can be divided into five phases: from the late 16 th to the early Northern Wei Dynasty(about 398 years in Pingcheng),from the Pingcheng of the Northern Wei Dynasty to the Luoyang(AD 494),and from the Luoyang to the Northern Wei of the emigration capital.(AD 534)The period before the East,Western Wei Period(circa AD 534-AD 550),and the Northern Qi Dynasty and Northern Zhou Dynasty(circa AD 550-AD 581).On the basis,the author belives that tomb figurines in North Dynasty began to revival in Yongzhou zone,and recover the combination of tomb beasts and warriors in Western Jin Period.Beginning Loyang period,tomb figurines in North Dynasty form into two styles,one kind of style is Loyang pattern which is a center of capital city;the other is Ch'angan patterns.Two styles both inherit tomb figurines in Western Jin Period,after the Secession of Northern Wei Dynasty,they still continue to develop.Although Northern Wei Dynasty divides into North Zhou and Qi,on the politics and culture,which shows great difference.In the late of North Zhou had been a tendency to assimilate the tombs of the North Qi Dynasty.After the Northern Zhou eradicated Northern Qi,the tendency becames more obvious,this change had a profound impact for the shape of tomb figurines in the Sui and Tang Dynasties.
