Chinese Peacock culture has a long history and is an important part of traditional culture.Since the Han Dynasty, the peacock has gradually become familiar to people in the central plains.People and nature in the long-term communication process, but also with the peacock has countless ties, and finally formed a peacock culture. This paper explores the panorama of Chinese peacock culture through a comprehensive investigation of the distribution area of peacock in the history period, the use of peacock, the peacock image in traditional art,the peacock ornamental in traditional garden culture and the relationship between peacock and religious customs. The peacock is widely distributed in the Yangtze River basin and the south of China in the historical period. However,to the Ming and Qing dynasties to reduce the distribution area of the peacock shrinking, the numbers of decline, currently only in the southwest corner of our country have survived. From the perspective of biological evolution,Peacock's own aggressive characteristics and poor fertility status affect the size of population. From the perspective of human-land interaction,on the one hand, the change of climate in China in the historical period actually influences the variation of the habitat of the peacock. On the other hand, the growing population pressure, ongoing land development, and the overfished of the peacock make the peacock's habitat more southerly.Because many of the peacock's use of value,in the historical period by people in a variety of ways to use: or eat,or medicinal,or become a variety of other activities of raw materials, and so on.However, they are characterized by diversification and depth in the process of long-term utilization. However, the diversity of the use of peacock, the number of expansion of the background, the survival of the peacock has also caused a significant impact. In the historical period, people's understanding of the peacock with the use of in-depth,become more specific, clear, deepen, making the peacock image more deeply into the animal culture, become an indispensable part of traditional culture. The image and charm of the peacock in the traditional art of literature, painting and garden are fascinating, especially in the field of decorative painting art.As a historical freehand literati painter,in different times will walk in the forefront of the art of the application of the arts, with a very rich charm of the brush, for people to show a colorful, auspicious, rich and other human beauty of the peacock image. At the same time, the traditional garden ornamental art which has been inherited from the pre-Qin times also exudes its unique charm. As the peacock with extremely high mirror rate in the Garden Watch, the personification of "gentleman" with aloof, high coldness and seclusion has been favored by literati and scholar-bureaucrats.In the traditional pluralistic religious culture, peacocks also play a very important role.By combing the content of the peacock in the religious classics, charity, forgiveness, love and so on symbolize the good religious spirit also leaps.Generally believed that in the primitive ancestors of the totem culture in the early days, the Peacock and Phoenix image has a prototype, such as the same as the twins.According to my observation, the difference between the appearance of the peacock and the birth time of the Phoenix pattern and the relationship between the two forms is obvious.Namely Peacock plume "eye pattern" is the original Phoenix Totem has not yet been absorbed. In addition, the peacock also into the customs of life, the daily production of various ethnic groups and customs are very important elements.Because of the fusion of national culture and regional choice, the peacock culture in the traditional customs was finally completed.
