In order to achieve the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation,we must tell the story of China well and spread the sound of China loudly in international communication.It is our mission of this new era to establish cultural self-confidence of our nation and to make the world know us better.All the time,the Confucius Institutes and Confucius Classrooms are the main channel for the outside world to learn about Chinese language and culture.This is an outward way for us to spread Chinese culture.In reaction to the common phenomenon called Chinese Cultural Aphasia in China's cross-cultural communication situations,this research tries to explore some practical methods and ways to develop college students' cross-cultural communication competence and make them voluntary and competent Chinese culture spreaders by appropriately adding more Chinese culture contents into college English teaching.This,compared to the outward channel for Chinese culture spreading,would be an inward channel for us to spread Chinese culture.Based on the theories of Post-structuralism and Cognitive Structure Transfer theory,in this research,the author designs a practical program to conduct a culture teaching in college English teaching by importing some teaching materials from The Analects of Confucius.Five main teaching methods are adopted during this process as follows,the translation and comparative study of idioms,the bilingual translation and comparative study of classical famous sentences,the comparative study of Chinese idioms and their English counterpart idioms,the comparative study of both Chinese and English famous quotes on the same themes,and English speech and debating on the key notion form of Confucianism.Some obvious teaching effects have been achieved after an academic semester's teaching practice.The results of this research show that it is quite important and necessary to import some traditional Chinese culture contents into college English teaching,and it is practical to do so as well.Those teaching methods adopted in this research are proved to be well accepted by the students tested and they are quite helpful in developing the students' sense of identity and pride for our national culture,in encouraging the students' consciousness and confidence to voluntarily disseminate Chinese culture in international communication circumstances,and in improving the students' cross-cultural communication competence and skills.Therefore they are proved to be of popularization value to a certain extent.Meanwhile,this research also shows that in the process of imputing traditional Chinese culture contents into college English teaching,there also exists some difficulties.For example,some teachers lack proper understanding of Chinese Cultural Aphasia;almost all teachers need to improve their own knowledge about traditional Chinese culture;the autonomous learning ability of students' is usually poor and they depend too much on classroom teaching and teacher's directions;the knowledge taught and learned in classroom teaching is too limited for the teaching purpose;too little related Chinese culture contents are included in current popular college English textbooks,and so on.The results achieved from this research may give some useful references and offer some research capabilities for relevant future study.
