Tangwangtou Village is a typical ancient village in southeastern Shanxi,and it is the center of craftsmanship in the local county.Artisans are one of the most prominent features,with typical representation.The article adopts a case study to explore the history and characteristics of folk artisans in ancient villages.Due to the unique Fengshui,Tangwangtou became the cemetery of Gaoping City,and the construction of the tomb promoted the arising of the artisans group.Since the late Ming period,TangWangtou's construction of temples has promoted the development of artisans group directly.The artisans group and the county town,the surrounding villages,and the various social strata are in harmony with each other and constitute a regional society.In the regional society,various organizations also perform their duties and ensure the normal operation.The artisans group has occupied an important position in the regional society,and its development has laid the foundation for the creation and establishment of the artisans organization,the guild.At the same time,the guild provided necessary support for maintaining the market order and mediating internal conflicts.The Lu-Ban Building created by the guild during the Daoguang period has become an independent place of worship for artisans.The religious activities of the Lu-Ban sacrifices and Lu-Ban beliefs have increased the recognition and loyalty of the members to the industry.This signifies that the group of artisans has reached its peak.After Tongzhi and Guangxu period,with the development of commercialization,Tangwangtou gradually developed into a commercial dock by virtue of its unique geographical location.In addition to the completion of the construction of temple clusters and the reduction of projects,the source of livelihoods of the people in Tangwangtou Village began to change,and the artisans group face the problems of loss and transformation.As a result,the village's position as an artisan center in the county area has been declining and the transformation to a regional commercial dock has been completed.
