Based on an interview with American writer and activist Alex Epstein in Rubin Report, this simulated interpreting practice took the form of consecutive interpretation from English to Chinese. The interview is mainly about Alex's views on the use of fossil fuels. The significance of this interview lies in the dissemination of environmental protection knowledge and the promotion of free speech. The features of this interview are: the topics are complex and varied, the tempo of the speaker is fast, the frequency of complex sentences is high and the information density is high.According to the recording material of this interpreting practice, this paper sums up the typical problems encountered in the process and proposes feasible processing strategies. The problem of information processing is particularly prominent in this practice and thus it becomes the core content of this report. In this practice, there are two reasons for information processing difficulties: information absence and high information density. As for information absence, strategies such as liberal translation, amplification, and generalized translation are mainly used according to different situations;strategies for explanatory translation, omission, omitting and syntactic linearity are mainly used for high information density. The significance of this practice report is to provide feasible strategies for information processing in the process of interpreting, and to provide reference for other interpreters on the handling of similar issues,so as to optimize interpretation results, improve the quality of interpretation, and enhance personal interpreting capabilities.
