A Translation Report On Kujia Songs

As an important part of our ethnic minority classics,Kujia Songs mainly focus on the emotional expression of ethnic Tujia people.It is not only a cultural gem of China,but also an indispensable part of the world culture.This thesis is about the translation practice report of Kujia Songs.Based on metaphorical cognitive theory and translating strategies,the author translated the original text.In the process of translating plants,natural substances,color words,and up-down words contained in the Tujia Classics,the author adopted the strategies of transplantation,conversion,omission,compensation,conversion of meaning,direct expression,literal translation and free translation in an effort to keep the ideological implication and meet the reading needs of English readers.This report is divided into six parts: task description,task process,literature review,theoretical frame,case analysis and conclusion.Task description gives an introduction to the content and background,reasons for selection and its significance as well as text features of Kujia Songs.Task process describes the pre-translation,translation and post-translation.The literature review is about the previous researches on the English translation of ethnic classics and Tujia classics Kujia Songs.Theoretical frame consists of the essence,origins of the metaphorical theory and its metaphorical translation strategies.Case analysis focuses on how to solve the difficult and important points by using transplantation,conversion,omission,compensation,conversion of meaning,direct expression,literal translation and free translation in the process of translating plants and natural substances,color words and up-down words.In the conclusion,the translator's thoughts and experiences gained from the practice are presented.The practice aims to provide reference for the translation of similar articles,and to make contributions to the promotion of Chinese culture.
