With the deepening of China's opening up to the outside world and the increasing frequency of economic and cultural exchanges with foreign countries,various types of publicity materials have become important channels and highly influential ways of promoting China's image to the outside world,displaying China on the international stage and helping all people of the world understand China.As the media and bridge of publicity,the translation from China into English is of great significance.The purpose of C-E publicity translation is to introduce China objectively and truthfully to foreign readers so as to achieve international exchanges and strengthen cooperation.In this report,the author takes Wang Yiwei's book—Opportunities and Challenges of the Belt and Road as example to discuss strategies of publicity translation under the guidance of functionalist translation theory.The author,guided by the target text and target language culture,combines four translation strategies under the guidance of functionalist translation theory: amplification,deletion,restructuring and rewriting,analyzes the English translation version selected from Wang Yiwei's book— Opportunities and Challenges of the Belt and Road.This report aims to clarify the guiding function of functionalist translation theory on publicity translation,help translators better understand the principles and methods of translation,improve the quality of publicity translation,and promote the economic,cultural and political exchanges between China and the rest of the world,achieving international development of all countries.
